Most Texas child support orders end when the youngest child turns 18, or graduates high school if that’s later.
To close the account, you generally need
- No pending legal action in the case
- The child to have turned 18
- A current address on file for the receiving parent
- Support to be paid in full, with no arrears
- Any Domestic Relations Office fees current
Documentation to provide
- A copy of the most recent court order
- Proof of graduation — a diploma, transcript, or a certified letter from the school — or a GED certificate
If support was paid through wage withholding, the Child Support Registry will notify the employer once the account closes.
